A New Era Takes Flight: ZwolsPigeons.com Welcomes Legendary Goemaere Bloodlines to Their Loft!

Zwols pigeons are very pleased to announce our new family of pigeons:

It is 14 years since we first brought the Frans zwols in and next year it will be 10 years since we brought all of Frans Zwols pigeons, as many know the frans Zwols were/are an inbred family of pigeons, bred over many generations with very limited introductions into them, since we have owned them, we have only added the odd pigeon back in which have been at least 50% frans zwols themselves.

This has meant for many years we have been keeping an eye out for a family of pigeons, that we believe could complement the frans Zwols.  This meant finding a team of pigeons that excel in the race basket of course, both as young and old birds but not with just one or two super pigeons but a family of pigeons that have been winning for generations. Also, we wanted a family that feel and handle like each other and when used as a cross into the frans Zwols, would keep the same sort of size and shape of pigeon.  Which meant looking for a family that are very similar to each other and similar to the frans Zwols, in terms of shape and handling and of course most importantly performance.

In addition, we have never really been ones to follow the crowd, we always like to do our own homework and find what we think are the right ones, backing our own judgement and knowledge.

After many false dawns when looking further into families of pigeons, we found things we did not like or just believed they were not good enough to hold there own against the Frans Zwols. However, we have finally found a real team of pigeons that tick all our boxes.  More winners in the family then you can imagine, added to this they are a real family of pigeons in terms of shape and size and very similar to our Frans Zwols.  All be it the colour is very different. In this new family.

The other good thing is we were the very first loft from the U.K to visit and see and handle the super quality of one of the very best lofts around. For this reason, we have invested heavily in this family meaning outside of the loft itself we have the biggest collection of these pigeons in the world and the only loft in the u.k. to have them.  In fact, apart from 6 in Taiwan and 3 which were purchased by Pipa and the odd ones that have gone to club sales and friends of theirs we are the only loft other than the lofts mentioned to have these super pigeons.

The loft we have chosen is Jose & Gustave Goemaere from Belgium.

Jose & Gustave Goemaere – are very famous for their super pigeon Gustave XIV (14) who won in 2023 the 1st National ace KBDB sprint, 2023 (The same award as Best Kittel for example won)

Gustave XIV (14) also won 6th national ace KBDB as a yearling in 2022.

Meaning he was the 6th best yearling in the KBDB in 2022 and the best old bird in 2023. You must admit that is super racing over 2 seasons.

He is called Gustave XIV (14) as he won 14 x 1st individual firsts with no duplications.

But this is far from a 1 pigeon loft and is in fact a very strong all-round loft from any distance. Which makes Gustave XIV achievements even more remarkable to be first to the loft 14 times is a remarkable achievement.

Jose & Gustave Goemaere only have a normal size set up. For a loft that competes in all the races available from sprint out to Barcelona.  Racing around 40 old birds and 30 yearlings. And breeding around 85 young birds per year. Along with a stock loft of 20 pairs. Again, when you see how competitive they are from all distances and not specializing in just one discipline like most Belgium lofts do.  You instantly know the class of pigeon housed must be top class.

When you look at the pedigrees of these pigeons, generation after generation there is pigeons with 3,4,5,6,7 wins and so on even one cock having 17 x 1st prizes.  And many ace pigeon awards and top KBDB awards in the family.

When you look for example at Gustave XIV pedigree, not only did he himself win 14 x 1sts, but his sire won 17 x1sts, his grandsire on the sire side also won 10x1sts, (this cock is also g.sire of the 2nd National Argenton 14,174 birds) on the dam side her sire won 17x1sts.

As you can see there are generations of big winners, with the very best going into the stock loft, along with the very best performance young hens each year.  Jose & Gustave Goemaere very much work on performance pigeons being the only real criteria and by being excellent stock men, they work to continually improve the gene pool by putting the big winners into the stock shed, but only the real exceptional cocks and never the one-off winners.  To get a place in the stock loft they must do it over multiple seasons and win multiple times.

In 2023 alone Jose & Gustave Goemaere won the following

A staggering 69 X 1st prizes.

1e Olympiad Maastricht 2024 Sport cat A 2022-2023 Belgium with the lowest % in the history of the sprint races for the Belgian Olympiad (14.3% over 10 races)

Jose & Gustave Goemaere – are also very nice people, who have been at the top of there game for many years but in the last few seasons the results have moved on to an even higher level, and now widely recognised as ‘Kings of Speed’, also nicknamed in their region as ‘The Cannibals of Speed’. And through speed is their main priority, they also unlike many top sprint lofts like to compete right through the programme and have some super results in the middle- and long-distance competitions as well, including winning the Barcelona masters in 2020. With the ace pigeon from Barcelona. And in 2023 2nd National yearling Argenton III 14,174 pigeons. And 2nd grande vitesse de 22,951 pigeons.

2024 has also started with a bang for Jose & Gustave Goemaere in Belgium, taking the first 12 positions, against 53 members, who sent 852 birds. First on the clock was their first nominated pigeon.
